I guess I spilled the beans about my
middle name, Arwen Hermione.

Go ahead and point your paw and laugh.
I'm use to it. Hermione.

Yes, it's after the girl in Harry Potter.

Let's talk about Raven's middle name.

Raven is named after some cartoon character.
At least both of names have literary connections.

A little history.

Raven belongs to the middle child, who is a girl.
She's in college now. But when Raven came to live
with us, the middle child was into a cartoon series
called Sailor Moon. All of the characters were
affliated with a planet or something. Ray was affliated
with Mars.

To me, it all makes sense: Cartoon character,Sailor Moon, Space
Cadette Dog, clockwork brain.

As time progressed. like two weeks later,

Ray became Ray-Ray. "Come here, Ray,
Ray."

Over time, Mom started calling Ray, Raven. It fit in with
Tolkien and Arwen. Mom has this Middle Earth/Renaissance
Festival/ thing going. That is why I live in danger of having
to wear costumes. You dogs out there don't live with this on
a daily basis.

I digress.

Back to Raven's middle name. I guess you're thinking it's Raven
Ray?

No way, it couldn't be Raven Sailor Moon?

No, that's the name which suits her though.

It's Raven Serena.

Sailor Moon's real name was Serena.

Now, I ask you how fair is it that Raven gets Serena for a middle name?

And I get Hermione. Now, it's fine for a Harry Potter character, but in
real life, it's a different story. I feel like the kid that got stuck
with the family name that has to be handed down from generation to generation.

Even when Mom calls Raven, her voice beoomes more lyrical, Raven Serena.

Then it's my turn, Arwen Hermione. Mom's voice becomes short and tense like I've
done something wrong. I know why she's out of breath, it's because she's out of breath from saying so many darn syllables in such a long name.

Oh, great, Mom is yelling Arwen Hermione, again. Raven is looking all sad and victimized. Just because I took her rawhide.
